Technology Center Team Lead

Job Description:

This position works closely with the Department Manager to coordinate the work activities of temporaries, seasonal workers, part time sales associate, and student workers including training of store operating policies and procedures as well as day-to-day store operations to ensure the facilitation of smooth and timely flow of merchandise and maintains the sales floor presentation on a constant basis while delivering high-quality customer service. 

Major focus will also be assisting in stocking and merchandising sales floor, keeping area neat and presentable straightening merchandise and maintain organization on the sales floor. The primary function is to assist in maintaining the sales floor in the tech department and provide effective Bookstore customer service by greeting and assisting customers with selections, and special services, such as loss prevention monitoring or office clerical, as required by the Technology Center. In addition to customer and special services assist in receiving, floor operations, stocking and merchandising as directed.  The Team Lead is expected to be an expert customer service representative for the Brown Bookstore and be able to assist customers (by phone, online, or in person) with their various requests in the tech department and assist in cashiering duties. They should be flexible and be able to help where needed on special projects with special orders or anywhere else in the store as needed.  Finally, the team lead will assist in picking online or mail orders during peak times and give them to the shipper for packing and fulfillment.  Performs other duties as assigned by the Department Manager. 

Supporting Actions:  

• Ensures shelves and other displays are stocked, restocked and maintained according to company standards

• Unpack merchandise from boxes/determine correct selling price/shelve or put on back in boxes to be stored. Notify supervisor and/or buyers when items are priced incorrectly.

• Maintain clean easy to access stockrooms.  Organize the stockrooms and backstock to allow for convenient and orderly navigation.

• Department presentation is well maintained.
• Work with staff so they can assist in replenishing and blocking and feathering the sales floor.
• Locate merchandise in stock when needed.
• Responsible for adherence to store policies and procedures.

Assist Mail Order staff during peak times by picking orders; selecting requested merchandise

• Engage customers in a positive/friendly manner including always thanking the customer.
• Accurately ring in all transactions, which include inventory control and methods of payment, IPRs, refunds, etc.
• Make sure all the paperwork is filled out correctly.
• Responsible for adherence to store policies and procedures.

• Helps with location and selection of merchandise.
• Assist customers in the store as needed-on the Tech center.
• Assist with location and selection of merchandise.
• Offer merchandise selections to customers.
• Recommend an item be marked down to satisfy a customer due to damage or questions on a price.
• Warehouse and under stock merchandise placement.
• Presentation layouts and displays.
• Merchandise placement schedules or Planograms for merchandise in Flex.
• Assign tasks to temporary, seasonal, or student workers assigned to the department.
• Accept merchandise returns. Issue refunds or gift cards when store policy requirements are met.
• Replenishment logistics strategies and schedules while meeting Merchandise Manager goals.

Education and Experience

Education

• Requires High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

• Two years’ experience working in a high-volume retail operation is preferred.
• Some warehousing and replenishment experience preferred.
