Technician (Anatomy)

Salary: Grade 05. £23,715 to £26,396 per annum (full time) together with NEST pension benefits

Contract: Permanent  Position. 35 Hours a week/1.0 FTE

Location: This position will be a multi-site role that will require the successful candidate to work in an agile manner.

The Faculty of Medicine, Health & Life Science draws together a wide range of healthcare disciplines, including Graduate Entry Medicine, Physician Associates, Nursing, Midwifery, Social Care, Social Policy and Psychology. We are the largest provider of health care education in Wales, providing an exciting and dynamic environment in which to study and further an academic or professional career. The Technical Team provides support for a wide range of services/facilities, which includes Desktop/Server & AV support, Simulation, Clinical Skills, Virtual Reality, Research, etc.  This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual to join a highly successful and motivated Technical Team that delivers exceptional support to its end users, which will involve working closely with technical team colleagues, professional services staff, academic staff and students. 

The Technician (Anatomy) within the Faculty is responsible for supporting and maintaining the Faculties Teaching and/or Research facilities and associated processes; ensuring the faculty has a resilient, compliant and fit for purpose technical environment equipped to deliver the business needs efficiently and effectively.

The Technician (Anatomy) will work closely with Faculty’s staff members, and colleagues within other Professional Services Units/Faculties, to ensure the effective day to day running of their respective environment; inclusive of Faculty specific equipment, consumables and other systems required to deliver the Faculty’s teaching and research endeavours. This will be achieved by engaging with a network of individuals inclusive of the Faculty Technical team, other University staff and suppliers.

The successful candidate will have a good level of education to GCSE and a Level 3 qualification in a Life Science discipline or closely related discipline and/or evidence of equivalent experience and qualifications commensurate with the roles and responsibilities of the job.. It is essential to have proficient IT skills, as well as the flexibility and willingness to gain new skills for specialist software/hardware, additional training and support will be provided as required. Experience of working within Higher Education to deliver a first-class service to a wide variety of customers and the ability to communicate in Welsh are desirable.
