The Faculty of Engineering and Technology are now looking to recruit a talented Technical Officer to support a wide variety of research activities and teaching. The successful candidate should have served a recognised apprenticeship as a Toolmaker/Precision Machinist and be qualified to Level 3 or equivalent. You must have good machining knowledge on conventional workshop/toolroom machinery, CNC experience would be advantageous but not essential.

You will work within a team of technicians and therefore have a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, along with effective interpersonal, communication and organisational skills are essential.

You should be able to evidence previous experience within an engineering workshop environment and demonstrate a good working knowledge of producing components from a variety of materials, including manufacture of jigs and fixtures.
