Technical Assistant (Biosciences)

The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Coventry University is seeking an enthusiastic Technical Assistant to help ensure effective running of our interdisciplinary biomedical laboratories to support both undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes.

Student Experience is at the heart of all our courses and you would be joining a team which prides itself on delivering excellent laboratory based tuition for our students.

You will be supporting teaching lab functions through the running of the washing up and sterilisation preparation area in the School of Life Sciences. This will include working with a close team, operation of large industrial washing and sterilisation machines, routine use of cleaning chemicals and detergents and undertaking basic laboratory tasks under the supervision of senior technical staff.

You should have a good general education including GCSE or equivalent in a science subject (GNVQ or NVQ level 3 or equivalent in an appropriate subject). Ideally you should have experience working in an educational environment undertaking routine laboratory tasks and have a good awareness of health and safety issues. You will also be proactive and have excellent interpersonal, communication and team working skills.
