Team Leader (Research Funding)

- Provide high quality post award research support services to the University community.
The Research Funding Team, in the Research Division, is a group of professional research administrators who are committed to facilitating contract management services, contractual negotiation with external collaborators and funding bodies and the monitoring of contractual obligations and milestones.
The Opportunity
The Team Leader (Research Funding) identifies, promotes, and delivers operational best practice with regards to policy, administration and research support services and manages continuous improvement and change. The position supports a strong administrative team and establishes strong, effective working partnerships with key stakeholders, including other divisional staff, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research), Chief Investigators, Associate Deans of Research Performance (ADRP), key College, Institute and School staff and external Funding Bodies.
Key Accountabilities:
- Provide operational support and daily leadership to the Post Award Research Funding Team.
- Make responsible and effective decisions and provide detailed advice and solutions to the Post Award Research Funding Team, Academic and Professional staff.
- Contribute to policy review, procedure and guideline development and implementation, strategic planning, and the development of professional networks.
- In conjunction with the Manager (Research Funding), provide clear project management strategies to ensure the Research Funding Team meets objectives including striving for continuous improvement of practice and service.
- Lead improvement initiatives to ensure the Research Funding Team’s delivery of high calibre contract management services.
- Oversee and quality control the review and maintenance of Research Management Database (RMDB) entries to ensure accuracy of information.
- As required, represent the Research Funding Team portfolio and interests on selected working groups and committees and liaising with senior stakeholders across the University.
Your Application
To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate;
- A postgraduate qualification with subsequent relevant experience in administration, contract, or project management.
- Proven experience in successfully providing leadership to a team and driving high quality performance and support delivery.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing procedures and processes for quality management and control.
- Extensive experience in providing contract management services and advice, including high level administrative and operational support.
- A capacity to act independently within established guidelines and make sound judgements with minimal supervision and escalating matters as appropriate.
- Proven experience in achieving operational improvements and mange competing priorities in a complex working environment, displaying initiative and sound judgement.
Remuneration
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 8 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $139,269 comprising base salary within the range of $104,688 to $119,034 plus 17% superannuation.
