The Department of Journalism in the College of Media, Communication, and Information (CMCI) at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a teaching assistant professor of journalism. This position will begin in August of 2024.

The department is primarily interested in candidates who can teach courses in visual storytelling at both the undergraduate and master’s levels and have the ability to teach conceptual courses across our curriculum. The successful candidate will have university teaching experience, having taught both small and large journalism courses.

We are seeking a candidate who will be open to creative interchange with colleagues. The candidate should have demonstrated commitment to and experience with inclusive pedagogies and the mentoring of a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate students. The position involves teaching three classes per semester. An MA degree in journalism or a related field is required. In 2022, the Department of Journalism at the University of Colorado-Boulder celebrated its 100th anniversary as a degree-granting organization within CU Boulder. Faculty members are prominent in both the academic and professional organizations. The Department offers BA and MA degrees in journalism. The Department also offers a PhD degree in journalism studies.

Established in 2015, the College of Media, Communication and Information is at the forefront of the revolution in communication and digital technology. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Teach three journalism courses per semester.

  • Provide service on relevant committees or on other academic and/or administrative tasks within the Department of Journalism, the CMCI and the university as a whole.

What We Can Offer

The salary for this position is $70,000-$73,000.
