Position Summary/Description:
The Department of English & Comparative Literature at UNC -Chapel Hill invites applications for a full-time assistant teaching professor to begin July 1, 2024. The Teaching Professor track is a full-time faculty position and affords the possibility of reappointment and promotion with opportunities for professional development. The position requires a 3/3 teaching load with the possibility of teaching additional courses in summer through the summer school program. We are looking for a versatile instructor with a terminal degree (Ph.D. or MFA ) in English Literature, Rhetoric and Composition, Creative Writing, or a related field who can teach courses that emphasize composition, text, and analysis in the Writing Program (which includes the first-year course, Writing at the Research University, and specialized writing in the disciplines courses) or other concentrations within the major in English & Comparative Literature. We are especially interested in candidates with additional expertise in editing, publishing, technical communication, health humanities, disability studies, or writing in the natural sciences.
Education and Experience:
Industry experience in technical or professional writing, editing, or publishing * Experience teaching students how to use industry-preferred software (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, Markdown) * Interdisciplinary or cross-disciplinary research and teaching interests.
