This posting is for one unionized contractual appointment. A Teaching Assistant is a Graduate Student employed to assist the Course Supervisor as a Teaching Assistant in a classroom environment. Teaching Assistant Positions are governed by the Collective Agreement between McGill University and the Association of Graduate Students Employed at McGill (AGSEM)

  • A Master’s degree (in exceptional circumstances applicants without a Master’s degree but with significant research or professional experience related to the course content may be considered);
  • Experience using e-Portfolio platforms such as: Edu-portfolio, WordPress, Wix, Weebly, Google sites, etc.
  • Knowledge of mobilizing digital technology for personal and professional empowerment and adopting an innovative and creative approach to the use of digital technology
  • Knowledge of strategies to teach students how to create online materials, such as e-Portfolios
  • Knowledge of the K/Elem and Secondary school context in Quebec
  • DISE and McGill students will have priority.

As per collective agreement 2.11 A teaching assistant is a Graduate student at the Master’s or Doctoral level employed to assist a Course Supervisor as a Teaching Assistant or Demonstrator.

Position Summary:

The Teaching Assistant will assist with the preparation of the course material, leading discussions, supervising individual projects, office hours, answering inquiries, providing feedback on the presentations. The TA will also support in class sessions and assess students’ work related to course objectives.
