COSC 1P03
Compensation
Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.
Duties
The workload for this position is based on class enrollments, budgetary approval and instructor’s request. The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess the following qualifications:
Must have sound knowledge of any software (such as IntelliJ, Dr. Java, JCreator), which is directly or indirectly used within COSC 1P03 as outlined in the course description within the Brock University Undergraduate calendar and/or course outlines supplied by the instructor.
Previous Course Coordinator experience is an added advantage.
Must have completed COSC 1P02, COSC 1P03 and COSC 2P03 (or equivalents), and achieved the grade of 80% or higher in all
Graduate of or Major in Computer Science with a minimum major average of 75%
Must be familiar with Brock Java Library
Excellent at Java
Previous successful teaching/marking experience in Computer Science
Ability to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
Available during normal office hours for group meetings and labs
Available after office hours to provide general consultations
High level of interpersonal skills and effective verbal communication skills
Academic integrity and professionalism
