Job Summary Job Summary General Description: The Therapeutic Learning Class (TLC) General Education (GE) Teacher shall assume responsibility to plan, develop and implement a broad-based instructional program for high-risk youth and shall report directly to the designated program administrator. The TLC GE Teacher provides individual, small group and whole-class instruction in basic, remedial and pre-vocational skills, according to the adopted curriculum, and state and federal regulations Distinguishing Characteristics: This teaching position works directly with students to advance their academic and individualized goals. The TLC GE Teacher provides direct instructional support to students and co-teaches with the TLC Special Education Teacher to support students’ academic and individualized goals. The TLC GE teacher acts as a liaison between the TLC program and both general and special education teachers from the hosting district and sending districts to help provide guidance and strategies for helping TLC students successfully integrate back to the Least Restrictive Environment. Qualifications: Employment Standards: Education and Experience: Possess and maintain valid California Multiple Subjects or Single Subjects credential and EL authorization Preferred Experience: Demonstrate competence in communicating effectively with children and parents, staff members and representatives of other agencies Possess an understanding of the needs and motivations of at-risk youth Experience in a co-teaching model and with inclusion of special education students in a general education setting. Knowledge and experience related to Social Emotional Learning and Trauma Informed Practices.
