Department Summary The UNT Talent Search Program is a grant-funded college prep program serving students in the Denton Independent School District. We assist middle and high school students by providing college prep and career exploration workshops. This position will support the Talent Search College Prep Advisors by providing assistance with these college and career workshops.
Position Summary THIS POSITION WILL REQUIRE TRAVEL BETWEEN TARGET SCHOOLS IN DENTON, TX.
•Will create and present various educational workshops to help 6-12th grade students understand about college and career options. Will maintain logs of student participation.
Will conduct one-on-one educational advising for middle school students.
•Assist with basic administrative functions of an office, have good communication and organization skills. Must be self-motivated and show initiative.
•Will be responsible for maintaining student data in database.
•Conduct activities to support the objectives of the Talent Search (TS) Program including supporting TS Director with academic events, parent nights and other activities.
•Establish/maintain effective working relationship with students, TS Staff, and DISD school officials.
•Will comply with TS and middle/high school guidelines as well as FERPA regulations.

Minimum Qualifications •Masters Degree in Education or Guidance and Counseling
•Work schedule hours are limited and during school hours.
•Consistent communication via phone, texting, virtual, and email communication modes.
•Must be self-motivated and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications •Familiar with/experience in working with the students at TS target schools in Denton ISD.
•Alumni/friend of a TRIO or Talent Search Program.
Required License / Registration / Certification
Work Schedule Will set schedule within Monday through Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 pm and occasional evening hours.
