Harvard Business School (HBS), External Relations is embarking on strategic initiatives and organizational investments that will position HBS as the 21st century world-class model of development and alumni engagement in higher education. The Talent Acquisition Manager (TAM) for External Relations (ER) is a newly established role designed to enable External Relations to expand our capacity to attract top talent. Collaborating with External Relations Business Administration and HBS Human Resources, the TAM has an opportunity to establish a recruitment strategy from scratch and re-map ER’s hiring experience. In this role, you will:

Establish and lead our recruitment and outreach efforts.

  • Help us convey the impact our staff have in service of HBS by establishing a Careers in External Relations web presence
  • Ensure our job postings effectively relay the daily contributions of our staff
  • Establish a proactive and robust recruitment and outreach strategy for key segments of ER’s workforce Lead hiring and associated activities.
  • Partner with hiring managers across External Relations from job ad creation, candidate review and advise on hiring process
  • Establish necessary tracking and reporting to support hiring and recruitment processes
  • Assess current hiring practices in close partnership with ER managers, leadership, and HBS HR and recommend substantive process changes over time.
  • Be responsible for other duties as assigned.

In the first year of this permanent role, we will ask you to focus on these key areas of opportunity: Establish your role as key partner to each hiring manager. Review and rewrite job postings, introduce hiring checkpoints with hiring managers and HBS Talent Acquisition.

  • Advise on recruitment strategy for each open opportunity and lead proactive intervention
  • Direct hiring managers on hiring process and advise on appropriate use of interviewer participation. Establish Tracking and Reporting
  • Articulate and define necessary metrics to inform hiring and recruitment practices across ER
  • Partner with HBS Talent Acquisition to leverage existing data for ER
  • Identify gaps in tracking and establish mechanism to collect and maintain going forward

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience

Additional Qualifications and Skills

Please note that 5+ years of full-time, professional experience is required including at least 3 years direct experience recruiting for different roles and/or overseeing hiring processes for a business or business unit.

  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to use technology effectively and demonstrated proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience or interest in human resources a plus.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft or Oracle applications preferred. Successful candidates will be motivated and energized by the opportunity to establish a recruitment and hiring function for a large organization

Additional Information

This role is offered as a hybrid (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Boston, MA based campus 2 days per week. Specific days and schedule will be determined between you and your manager.
