Department Summary

The College of Arts and Sciences is the hub of learning, research, and academic excellence at the University of Oregon. The CAS Business Office (CBO) provides services in the areas of budget and finance, accounting and purchasing, grants, human resources, stewardship administration, and event services to departments within the College of Arts and Sciences.

The mission of the CAS Business Office is to provide consistency through centralized services, offering our expertise in processing a wide variety of business operation transactions and functions, including acting as a liaison to the Business Affairs Office, Purchasing and Contracting Services, University Human Resources, Payroll Administration, and Sponsored Project Services, Stewardship Administration, and Event Services. We are committed to providing superior customer service and creating partnerships with our customers to ensure their needs are fulfilled to the highest standard.

Position Summary

The person in this role will provide guidance to CAS administration and academic units on employee recruitment, to ensure equitable and inclusive searches; manage workforce planning efforts for CAS; conduct job and compensation analyses; and supervise a team of 2-3 employees who perform recruitment, classification, and compensation support tasks.

The position will conduct outreach to sources of talent, create talent pipelines, manage succession planning efforts, conduct talent gap analyses and provide sourcing recommendations, and coach hiring managers on inclusive search practices.

The Talent Acquisition Manager reports to the Associate Director, CBO Human Resources, and will be a key support to the Associate Director in the areas of recruitment, classification & compensation, and workforce planning.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience as a human resources professional that included any of the following: workforce planning, recruiting, job analysis, job description development, and/or classification and compensation; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year of supervisory or lead work experience.

• Understands and demonstrates knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices related to identifying, attracting, selecting, and retaining individuals to address institutional needs consistent with UO policy and procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to advance diversity and inclusion efforts through their own actions and influencing the actions of others.

Preferred Qualifications

• Work experience at a large university or public sector organization.
• Human Resources credential (for example, SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR, etc.).
• Experience with Banner or similar enterprise resource planning system.
• Experience with an applicant tracking system and/or talent management system and/or an HRIS.
• Experience applying collective bargaining agreements to personnel and pay actions.
• Experience giving presentations and/or trainings.
