At U of T Mississauga, we are looking for an exceptional Systems Administrator to join our team. The Systems Administrator will innovate and support UTM’s Windows, Mac and Linux endpoints leveraging enterprise solutions such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM, Kandji and Active Directory capabilities. The Systems Administrator will also assist with datacenter operations such as hardware installation, patching and updating Operating Systems and infrastructure monitoring.

As a Systems Administrator, you will be one of the subject matter experts within UTM’s I&ITS Infrastructure and Operations team. You will administer as well as contribute to tactical and operational decisions for UTM’s I&ITS Endpoint User Computing infrastructure, spanning between physical computers and labs to datacenter and virtualized offerings. This will require combining technical experience and knowledge, problem solving and troubleshooting at the convergence of End User Computing, on-premises datacenters and cloud platforms.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Troubleshooting complex computer system problems
  • Planning components of projects
  • Probing for information to establish needs
  • Creating complex and technical documentation and user support guides
  • Removing tripping hazards
  • Directing a small group in a limited area, including responsibility for scheduling and/or workflow

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of four years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows and Apple Operating systems.
  • Minimum of four years of hands-on experience with endpoint hardware such as Dell, Lenovo, Apple.
  • Minimum two years of hands-on experience with Mobile Device Management platforms such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM or Kandji.
  • Minimum two years experience working with Active Directory using tools such as Active Directory Users and Computers.
  • Minimum two years experience working with Group Policy Objects.
  • Understanding of volume and disk encryption technologies such as Microsoft BitLocker or FileVault.
  • Knowledge of network services such as DHCP and DNS.
  • Knowledge of enterprise printing solutions such as Pharos or Paperclip
  • Knowledge of common protocols such as SMB, CIFS, AFP, etc.

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Demonstrated experience working in a structured change management environment (CAB or equivalent body).
  • ITIL foundations level (or higher) certification.
  • Familiarity with the University environment, governance, and policies.
  • Experience working with the ServiceNow platform.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:

USW Pay Band 12 — $79,874. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $102,147. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
