Position Summary:
Organize, coordinate and oversee a variety of administrative operations and fiscal duties. Act as a liaison for assigned department. Supervise, monitor, assign, train and direct OB Technicians and Patient Care Technicians. Manage equipment and supplies, including budgeting, evaluation, procurement, maintenance, and inventory control. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups.
Detailed responsibilities:
* SUPERVISION – Develop efficient organizational structure, supervise employees – select, terminate, train, educate, correct deficiencies, perform appraisals, issue discipline, counsel, schedule work assignments; encourage staff teamwork and growth initiatives
* ADMINISTRATION – Perform various administrative functions such as monitoring expenditures and preparing reports and correspondence; may participate in a variety of research projects to develop service plans; may propose changes to program policies and procedures
* LIAISON – Serve as assigned department liaison with other UNMH departments and outside agencies; provide quality service to internal and external customers
* VIZIENT- Coordinate efforts to maximize utilization of Vizient GPO Contracting
* ASSESSMENT – Complete designated portion of obstetrics triage records; relate findings and co-signs assessment with RN
* PATIENT CARE – Perform basic invasive procedures to include blood draws and catheterizations; assist in deliveries
* PATIENT CARE – Assist with complicated procedures to include amniocentesis, PBS and emergency cesarean section scrub; set up/clean delivery rooms; prepare and drape patient and operating area; prepare and maintain sterile field for surgical procedures
* PATIENT CARE – Provide basic patient care and make rounds; report and record any changes observed in patient behavior or condition, or unusual incidents
* SURGICAL PROCEDURES – Perform scrub technician duties in surgical procedures as part of a surgical team as assigned
* TRAINING – Act as role model and precept the training, education and orientation of new staff as assigned
* TRANSFER – Facilitate patient movement (e.g., admission, transfer) by assisting nursing staff and supervisors as needed
* INVENTORY CONTROL – Provide inventory control for equipment and instruments
* EQUIPMENT – Operate and maintain a variety of office equipment
* EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES – Arrange for the evaluation of new equipment and supplies, and provide input into decisions about their acquisition
* EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES – Develop, maintain, and monitor system to ensure adequate inventory, tracking and maintenance of supplies and equipment including custom or special orders
* COMMUNICATION – Interact with all Hospitals support departments, e.g., CDU, Pyxis, Purchasing, etc, and vendor representatives
* SPECIMENS – Assist in maintenance and care of specimens; prepare specimens for laboratory analysis; transport specimens to appropriate departments as needed
* DEVELOPMENT – Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops
* PATIENT SAFETY 1 – Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols
* PATIENT SAFETY 2 – Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes
* PATIENT SAFETY 3 – Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk
* PATIENT SAFETY 4 – Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner
* PATIENT SAFETY 5 – Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don’t understand or may “not seem right”

Credentials:

* CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 days
Physical Conditions:
Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work.
