Required Education Qualified applicants will have taken ACC 301 at the University of Kentucky and made an “A” or “B” in the course. Additionally, qualified applicants will be able to sit in during course lecture. Qualified applicants will also have and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Required Related Experience Applicants must have taken ACC 301 at the University of Kentucky and made an “A” or “B” in both courses.
Required License/Registration/Certification If accepted for the position, applicants must attend SI Leader training in January 2023, prior to the beginning of the Spring 2023 semester.
Physical Requirements Sitting and standing for long periods of time.
Shift SI Leaders can expect to work between 8-10 hours per week. A successful applicant will be available to attend lecture for ACC 301, hold study sessions and office hours during the week, and attend regularly scheduled SI team meetings. SI Leaders’ schedules are determined at the beginning of each semester though some variation may occur do to extenuating circumstance.
Job Summary This position is for the 2022-2023 academic year and will begin January 2023.
SI Leaders are trained to plan and facilitate weekly active learning study sessions for students enrolled in ACC 301. SI study sessions integrate the review of course content with effective learning and studying strategies. SI Leaders do not lecture or teach new course material but provide students with the tools they need to understand and process course material themselves.
Leader responsibilities include:
•Attend all class meetings of ACC 301, model good student behavior, and be familiar with assignment content.
•Plan and facilitate three, 50-minute study sessions per week and intermittent exam review sessions throughout the semester.
•Hold weekly office hours.
•Advertise SI sessions in-class and on Canvas.
•Accurately track session attendance data and report problems to the SI Supervisor.
•Attend regularly scheduled SI team meetings and debriefs with the SI Supervisor or Mentor.
•Communicate with the ACC 301 course instructor on a regular basis.
•Submit necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Candidates for this position must model good student behaviors and be enthusiastic about working with peers. Individuals should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be willing to learn, are able to work autonomously and collaboratively, and be professional.
