Summer Worker – Laboratory (Research Institute)

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS).

Position summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with an interest in medical microbiology/bacteriology to contribute to the Energise project on next-generation rapid phenotypic bacteriology diagnostics for low-resource and remote settings. This individual will work under the supervision of Dr. Cedric Yansouni.

General Duties
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for participating in and supporting various laboratory experiments required for the Energise project including preparing materials and equipment, recording results, maintaining records and inventory, ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the work area, and any other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be primarily responsible for conducting and supporting laboratory activities as needed for the Energise project.

Education / Experience

Education: Diploma of College Studies (DEC)

Required Skills

• Excellent English, spoken and written,
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
• Ability to work independently or with teams with minimum supervision,
• Attention to detail and accuracy

Additional information

Status: Temporary, full time
Pay Scale: $15.75 to $18.80 Commensurate with education & work experience.
Work Shift: 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday
Work Site: Glen Site
