Columbus State University has an opening for several Summer Conference Assistants (SCA) to work from early-May to early-August in the Department of Residence Life. These positions will assist with various tasks relating to summer camps, orientations, and Residence Life on both the RiverPark and Main Campuses. These positions will report to the Assistant Director of Residence Life and the Summer Conference Graduate Intern and will be responsible for exemplary customer service to both on and off- campus constituents.
The following are the responsibilities of the SCA position:
CAMPS AND CONFERENCE (5 hours per week)
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
WORKING AT COMMUNITY FRONT DESK (18 hours per week)
SCAs will work at their community front desk for 18 hours per week and perform duties including but not limited to: answering telephones with proper etiquette; filing paperwork, stocking supplies, operating copier and fax machines; maintaining the front desk and storage areas as needed; assist students during check-ins, check-outs, and room change processes; assist students with lockouts and maintenance concerns; explain and enforce Residence Life policies and procedure; assist in various areas within Residence Life; assist in marketing housing by providing detailed tours (first-year housing areas only) to our current and prospective student sand their parents;attend all scheduled training programs; complete administrative responsibilities to include duty logs, incident reports, mediations, etc.; attend staff meetings; perform duty rounds as communicated to; follow all policies and procedures in the Student Handbook and the Community Guide; be knowledgeable of current students, building, and campus issues; have knowledge resources available on campus for students; maintain frequent communication with Residence Life staff and respect confidentiality concerning content and process of such discussions; uphold the general requirements of the position.
The successful candidate should have prior experience of living in housing and must currently be enrolled at CSU and be in good academic and financial standing with the University. The selected candidate should also possess excellent customer service skills as well as written and oral communication skills. skill sand must pass a required criminal background check successfully as a condition of employment.Students currently living in campus housing are preferred.
Housing Waiver equivalent to the cost of a private bedroom bed space.
*Exact hours in each section may shift throughout the summer based on the needs of the department.
** Any additional hours that the SCAmay sign up for outside of these 20 hours, will be paid at $8.00 per hour. Additional hours are not guaranteed but may be available based on community needs.
