Job Description

The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a student worker for Facilities Maintenance Services as custodial services. This position is responsible for:

  • Daily custodial duties to assist with the cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms.

  • Including disinfecting and wiping down various surfaces.

  • Restocking hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes in classrooms and common areas.

Required Qualifications

Must be enrolled at UNR for the Fall 2022 semester and able to work through summer and winter breaks.  Must be dependable, reliable, thorough, motivated, and detail oriented; and able to work as a member of a team and follow instructions.

NOTE: This position is subject to a pre-employment, post-accident and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol test.  The candidate selected for hire will be required to sign a form acknowledging this policy. 

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

This position requires walking or standing to a significant degree; pushing and/or pulling; exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; working with and around hazardous building materials containing asbestos, solvents and cleaning chemicals; and increased exposure to germs; and exposure to hot and cold temperatures when working outside.

Schedule

Shifts will be scheduled Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 10:00 am; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.  This is a part-time position with 20 hours per week during the Fall and Spring Semesters and may increase to 40 hours per week during the Winter and Summer breaks. 

Compensation Grade

Student Employee, Level 1

$12/per hour

Facilities Maintenance Services (FMS) is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the physical resources and environments of the University of Nevada, Reno and campus buildings. FMS provides guidance and understanding in the areas of building maintenance, moving furniture, housekeeping and grounds landscaping.
