We have an exciting opportunity for a Student Support Manager to join the team on a term time onlybasis (38 weeks per year). In return,you will receive a competitive salary of £27,233 – £29,035 pro rata depending on experience.
We are a high-achieving college who attract around 2,800 sixth form students across the region each year. We are based within the stunning New Forest National Park and offer our students a huge range of courses and superb facilities.

Responsibilities as our Student Support Manager will include:
- Developing a relationship with their cohort of students, providing a trusted friendly point of contact, to promote a healthy transition from school to college whilst ensuring students develop personally and socially
- Working with students to promote academic success, self-esteem, self-confidence and achievement
- Delivering the weekly tutorial within the weekly student support session, and completing student 1:1’s regularly
- Monitoring student progress to ensure progress is being made through close liaison with college staff
- Reporting regularly to the Pastoral and Welfare Manager on students who are a cause for concern
- Working closely with the Attendance team to monitor and ensure excellent attendance of students in their cohort
- Maintaining and updating student records systems to facilitate communication and the reporting of data via EMILY
- Liaising between student/HOCS/subject teacher/parents or carers
- Writing UCAS references, and supporting students with the completion of UCAS
- Supporting and delivering Next Steps activities as required
As our Student Support Manager you’llideally have:
- A Degree or equivalent professional relevant experience
- A proven track record of success in supporting young people
- Knowledge of ‘Keeping Children safe in Education’ (safeguarding)
- The ability to motivate staff in support of learners
- The ability to relate well to learners of all abilities, and their parents/carers, and to assess learner needs, significant interaction with parents and carers will be required in this role
- The ability to use Information Learning Technology and Student Record System
- A commitment to take part in staff development and training
- The ability to work flexibly as the number of hours worked may vary week by week. Due to the nature of the role and the structure of the academic year it is anticipated that a greater number of hours will be required weekly from September to December, while there will be a lighter workload from May to July
