Organizational Unit Overview The mission of the college is to serve as a national model for transforming the health of rural underserved regions through excellence and innovation in nursing education, leadership, research, scholarship and practice. The ECU, College of Nursing continuously strives to create a learning environment and workplace culture that provides opportunity, support, and consideration for all students, employees, alumni, and other stakeholders. The Office of Student Services is part of the College of Nursing in the Health Sciences Division. Student Services is responsible for the oversight of recruitment, admission, advisement of undergraduate nursing majors, registration, clinical compliance, and graduation services in the College of Nursing. This office serves enrolled undergraduate and graduate students as well as prospective students. Student Services is a dynamic and busy office setting that provides essential services to enrich the student experience during enrollment.
Job Duties The ECU, College of Nursing seeking applicants for a full-time, Student Services Specialist. This position is housed in Student Services and is primarily responsible for facilitating and managing all College of Nursing clinical/practicum compliance requirements according to agency contractual agreements and accreditation guidelines for all students in College of Nursing programs. This position requires a high level of communication skills to work with the student population to educate them about the required clinical documentation as well as communicate with agencies regarding student participation in clinical/practicum at their facility. This position also requires leadership and managerial skills in coordinating with faculty any changes with College of Nursing requirements and guidelines to establish enforcement of requirements by clinical faculty. In addition, this position will be responsible for assisting and managing current and prospective students with admission, registration, and graduation needs. This position is responsible for providing excellent and efficient customer service and utilizes a variety of communication techniques. Employees are required to exercise confidentiality in accordance with policy and applicable state, federal and local laws such as Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).
Responsibilities include:
Leadership/Program Project Administration – This position provides leadership in all areas of clinical compliance. The person in this position will educate faculty regarding clinical compliance requirements so that they can assist in communicating with their students. This person will also use the software application which will be used to manage the clinical documentation provided by students. It will be necessary for this person to work collaboratively with students, faculty and staff within the university as well as the contacts for the software that is used. Consulting with senior-level administrators will be necessary to discuss updates, changes and practices regarding clinical requirements.
Communication and Marketing – A high level of communication skills are necessary for this position. The person in this position will be required to work with internal and external constituents in order to meet the requirements of the position. This person will navigate complex and sensitive confidential situations on a regular basis.

Information Analysis and Decision Making/Consultation –
This position will be required to provide reports regarding students not in compliance on a regular basis. This information will need to be shared with appropriate administrators and follow up with students as necessary.
Professional Knowledge – This position will be required to maintain knowledge of program, policies, procedures, technology and best practices in all areas related to the College of Nursing in order to be successful.
Minimum Education/Experience Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
