Summary of Duties:

The Student Services Coordinator is the primary point of contact for the day-to-day operations of the Carson College masters student services front line team at POLS. Duties include but are not limited to managing a wide variety of current student records for 1000+ students both electronic and manual recordkeeping/filing systems; reviewing, analyzing and evaluating student data in relation to unit goals and objectives; gathering and measuring retention data; responding to inquiries from students, staff and the general public; tracking program certificates for students; mailing various material to current students; working closely with partner Pearson, and other projects as assigned. This position will have an instrumental role in managing all actions in My.WSU to support student petitions, requests for reinstatement and other such business functions. It will also interact to solve specific student issues related to business processes for masters students in CCB by interacting with the online registrar, online student accounts, bursar, student financial services and other offices as necessary to ensure reduction in transactional friction for online masters students in CCB. Issues will be collected and escalated to ensure that root cause solutions are also attended to in order to better administer the masters programs in the college. Problem solving and open communication will be paramount to success in this role.

Required Qualifications:

  • Positions require a Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. Experience leading or directing the work of others. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.

  • Outstanding oral and written communication.

  • Ability to respectfully engage and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Strong Attention to detail.

  • Experience working with student records

  • Ability to use various sources of information to provide recommendations.

  • Ability to identify problems or opportunities for improvement and raise recommendations for solutions.

  • Demonstrated skill with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience providing student support at Washington State University or other higher education institution.

  • Previous experience with large complex filing and/or electronic record keeping systems.
