| Department Summary | The mission of the Division of Student & Academic Affairs is to create solutions for a healthier community by fostering student success. There are 13 functional units within the Division of Student & Academic Affairs: Center for Student Life, Career Readiness Center, Center for Academic Performance, Office of Care and Civility, Registrar, Financial Aid, Testing and Evaluation Services, International Services, Admissions & Recruitment, Office of University Assessment & Accreditation, Office of Disability Access, Student Assistance Resource Center, and Title IX. |
| Position Overview | The Division of Student & Academic Affairs at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire an Assistant Director, Student Life to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to: * Serve as point of contact for the external community regarding health science center student-related programs and events. * Meet with students, faculty and staff, families and others for information dissemination and problem solving. * Serve on university committees as appropriate. * Represent the university through professional organizations and events as appropriate. |

| Minimum Qualifications |
Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. |

| Preferred Qualifications | The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: * Master’s degree and five years of experience in a related field. * Experience in large scale event planning. * Previous experience managing budgets and resources in higher education. * Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in computer technologies utilized in higher education institutions. * Must be able to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability. * Must be able to demonstrate professional communication skills. * Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of student development theory and practice in higher education. |

| Work Schedule | Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm, with occasional evenings or weekends as required for divisional events. |

Job Duties
| o | Provide leadership and/or supervision of staff, graduate assistants, and student workers |

| o | Serve as an advisor for Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) and the Student Government Associations (SGA’s) by providing resources, training, and guidance on institutional policies and requirements |

| o | Administer training and coordinate partnerships for facilitation of risk management, hazing prevention, alcohol and drug use prevention, Title IX, Clery Act, and other appropriate topics |

| o | Implement leadership development programs for student leaders |

| o | Oversee student leader and advisor annual training and refresher training |
|---|
| o | Develop and maintain student organization handbook and procedures |
|---|
| o | Provides leadership for the Student Emergency Fund process for students experiencing financial hardship due to unforeseen or uncontrollable circumstances. |
