Student Services Advisor, Graduate and International Programs

The USC Gould School of Law’s Graduate & International Programs office is seeking a Student Services Advisor to join the team! Providing a high level of customer service and ensuring student success, the Student Services Advisor will support our residential degree and certificate programs with academic and career advising.

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in student services supporting international students along with domestic students.  It is critical for the candidate to have the ability to work both collaboratively and independently, prioritize, and multitask.  Additionally, the successful candidate should have strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.

• Preferred Education: Master’s degree in higher education administration, student affairs or related field

• Preferred Experience: 2 years. Knowledge of USC student and academic programs, policies and procedures, and USC’s student information system. Experience supporting international students and graduate programs

Responsibilities:

• Provides one-on-one academic and career advising related to students’ professional goals and in accordance with degree/certificate requirements

• Plans and executes registration services each semester by scheduling classes, updating and distributing materials, processing general course petitions, and filing degree checks

• Supports critical day-to-day student support by monitoring academic progress and assisting with communication and outreach efforts

• Guides students through the orientation onboarding, including sharing law school processes, financial aid resources, and scholarship funding

• Designs informational materials and organizes professional development workshops, such as resume and cover letter reviews, mock interviews, networking, etc.

• Collaborates with internal team members (staff, faculty) and external partners (USC departments, alumni) on a regular basis to develop innovative ways to engage students and facilitate their professional development

• Participates in managing and attends regular events for all Graduate & International Programs students, including orientation, commencement, and networking events

• Maintains currency on a wide range of university policies, school-wide policies, and educational trends affecting graduate students and student affairs practices for professional programs

• Performs other related duties as assigned
