Summary
Dr. Erica Soltero is an assistant professor in the Children’s Nutrition Research Center in the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. The focus of her research is implementing community-based diabetes prevention programs for Hispanic youth and families. This work involves behavioral studies to investigate the influence of physical activity and sedentary behaviors on the development and prevention of type 2 diabetes. It also includes qualitative work focused on identifying social determinants of health that influence diabetes risk in Hispanic youth and families. Dr. Soltero is currently seeking to hire a student helper who will participate in daily research activities which include a variety of job duties centered on participant interaction, development of project materials, assisting with scholarly work, data collection, and working collaboratively with the research team in her lab and community partners.
