The Student Government Coordinator is a key staff member of the Student Life Student Activities team. This role directly advises the Council of Graduate Students and the Inter-Professional Council as well as provides programming support for the Undergraduate Student Government. This includes meeting regularly with executive officers, directors, and project leads to identify needs and assist students with the implementation of various initiatives and events.

As the primary Student Life staff liaison for CGS and IPC, this role will support communications, officer trainings and transitions, budget planning and approvals, and logistical support for major events. As part of the support team for USG, this role will serve as a project manager for various events and collaborations, working in partnership with the Associate Director, Office Associate, and student leaders.

This role will supervise one professional staff person, Office Associate, and report to the Associate Director for Student Activities. This role will be an engaged member of the Student Activities team by attending regular staff meetings and professional development, supporting Student Activities/ Student Life/ university programs as requested, serving on university committees, and other duties as assigned.

Duties:

35% – Serve as primary Student Life liaison to the Council of Graduate Students and Inter-Professional Council; assist executive officers with communications, trainings, officer transitions, budget planning, grant processes, purchasing approvals, and event planning/on-site support for major activities of each organization, including the CGS Hayes Graduate Research Forum and the IPC Inter-Professional Summit.

35% – Work closely with Undergraduate Student Government leaders in the executive branch, General Assembly, and Black Caucus to assist them with event planning and logistics, maintaining a project management structure that will organize priorities for the student government support team; meet regularly with support team to strategize the most effective means for support of student government initiatives; work with the Student Government Office Associate to educate USG leaders on purchasing and event planning procedures; provide on-site support for USG programs and collaborative events as needed.

20% – Supervise Student Government Office Associate, assisting with project/workload management, working on goal setting and performance management throughout the year, completing an annual performance review, and serving as a resource for process improvements and student staff supervision.

10% – Participate in Student Activities staff meetings and professional development activities, provide support for unit, division, and university programs as needed, serve on university committees, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required:

Bachelor’s degree; two years of relevant work experience; experience working with students in a higher education setting; experience managing multifaceted projects; planning, organizing, and implementation skills; coaching and facilitation skills; demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Desired:

Master’s degree in higher education and student affairs or related field; experience working with student governments and student leadership development.

Salary:

The salary for this position is $46,000. This is a non-exempt, hourly position that is eligible for overtime.

Remote work opportunities may be available to facilitate relocation to the Columbus area. Hybrid work opportunities may be available throughout the year as aligned with department goals and programming needs.
