One of the country’s premier international studies centers, the Mario Einaudi Center for International Studies (Einaudi Center), is Cornell’s crossroads for research, teaching, and learning about the world. Through six area studies and two thematic programs, we strive to foster deep understanding and new knowledge of the world’s current events, histories, cultures, and languages. We support campus-wide multidisciplinary initiatives and forge transnational collaborations. Four of the six area programs hold grants from the U.S. Department of Education that support community outreach and undergraduate student engagement.
What you will do:
Develop, plan and implement short- and long-range international educational outreach programs for primary and secondary school (K-12) students and teachers. Collaborate with the Post-secondary Outreach Coordinator at the Einaudi Center and with the faculty and staff of the area studies programs, particularly those with US Department of Education Title VI funding, to (re)design these programs for maximum impact and with the aim of increasing Cornell faculty and student engagement.
Develop, plan and implement short- and long-range programs, events, and activities aimed at raising visibility and increasing undergraduate engagement and diversity in area studies, with a focus on South and Southeast Asian studies at Cornell.
Oversee data collection, grant reporting, and evaluation for all K-12 outreach activities. Contribute to long-term strategic planning, grant writing, and facilitate a process to reimagine and adapt collaborative K-12 outreach in a post-pandemic, digitally connected educational environment. Evaluate impact and outcomes of student engagement and teacher training outreach. Use appropriate web tools for reporting purposes and work with evaluator to identify areas for program improvement.
The scope of work is both on- and off-campus, regional, and national. The position requires occasional travel, approximately one to two days per month within New York State. All aspects of the position involve inter-cultural communication.
This is a 20 hour per week position with a two-year, renewable term appointment, dependent on funding and performance.
What we need:
- Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years relevant experience
- International knowledge and/or work experience.
- Writing, editing, and public speaking abilities; experience with web, social media, and online tools and reporting platforms
- Ability to identify and work collaboratively with diverse groups, including graduate and undergraduate students, university faculty, staff, K-12 education professionals, and the general public.

- Master’s degree or equivalent
- Background or training in higher education and/or K-12 teaching
