Summary of Job Duties:
This position will work under the supervision and direction of the HLA laboratory supervisor. Clinical Technicians in the HLA laboratory are expected to keep all instrumentation in good working order and identify and notify the supervisor or lead tech of instrument malfunctions. They should be able to aid in instrument repair. They may be taught to perform a variety of technical procedures under the close supervision of a technologist including HLA typing by rSSO and/or next generation sequencing methods, Luminex based HLA Antibody identification, and donor/recipient flow cytometric cross-matching. They should be able to identify abnormal or discrepant results. They will have limited participation in student teaching and assisting of other personnel rotating through the section.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with Certified Laboratory Support Technician training, or currently pursuing Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science.
• 0-1 year of clinical laboratory experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Currently pursuing Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory or clinical laboratory science
