As a driver of innovation, TU Wien fosters close collaboration with business and industry and contributes to the prosperity of society.The Institute of Architectural Sciences, Department of Building Physics and Building Ecology has a vacancy for a student employee in research and administration, expected to start in April 2025 (10 hours per week) with the following responsibilities. This position is limited to expected 4 years, but no longer than until the completion of the Master’s or Diploma program.Tasks:

  • Involvement in the supervision of the administration and organization in the area of teaching in particular of the English-language Master’s program in Building Sciences and Environment, in particular as a contact person for students and applicants, as well as in the handling, support and supervision of the admission procedure
  • If applicable involvement in the preparation and implementation of research and development projects in the field of Building Sciences and Environment at the Department of Architectural Sciences
  • Administrative involvement in teaching as well as in the supervision of students, in particular support in communication with students incl. holding of office hours and organization
  • Participation in the ongoing improvement of the application and assessment/evaluation process of the Master’s program

Your profile:

  • Enrolment in a relevant degree program (e.g. architecture, civil engineering or similar); No completed master’s or diploma degree in the subject area.
  • Subject-specific knowledge, in particular in the technical core domains of the Institute of Architectural Sciences, i.e. building physics/building performance, structural engineering, digital architecture and spatial planning); Further knowledge in related domains, e.g. structural engineering, databases/data structures is desirable
  • Experience in academia is an advantage, but not a necessity
  • Motivation to complete tasks responsibly, as well as good self-organization; Teamwork and communication skills, as well as organizational understanding of the Austrian higher education system and the structure of TU Wien or study architecture, or motivation to learn these specifics
  • Solution-oriented approach to problems
  • Quick comprehension and interest in learning new skills, e.g. new software applications
  • Excellent knowledge of English (language of the Master of Building Science and the application process) and German, as well as openness towards other cultures
  • Good knowledge of common, general software products (office applications, image processing), as well as subject-specific software packages (CAD/BIM systems, special tools for building physics) is desired
