As a driver of innovation, TU Wien fosters close collaboration with business and industry and contributes to the prosperity of society.The Department of Research Information Systems in cooperation with the Data Science Research Unit, Institute of Information Systems Engineering, is offering a position as student staff member in research/administration for 20 hours/week. Expected start: January 2025. This position is limited to expected 8 months, but no longer than the completion of a master’s or diploma degree.Tasks:

  • The TU Wien is in the process of improving its ability to leverage data for insights into its performance and embedding in the international research environment. A part of this data includes documents in various formats, as well as structured datasets, all including information on relationships between institutions and other relevant metadata. The successful candidate will contribute to this process by carrying out the following tasks:
  • Assisting in the Development and evaluation of approaches to extract information from structured and unstructured data
  • Support in the analysis of the extracted data to obtain relevant insights
  • Assisting in the regular consultation with and presentation of results to stakeholders
  • Support of the development of prototypes demonstrating the most successful approaches
  • The development can include, but is not limited to, the use Large Language Models and Natural Language Processing technologies and techniques
  • It is possible to carry out research toward a master’s thesis as part of this employment

Your profile:

  • Enrolled in a relevant study program in the field of Informatics, Business Informatics or Data Science; No completed Master- or Diplom Study in these fields
  • Very good programming knowledge
  • Team- and communication skills
  • Independent and precise work
  • Networked thinking and system perspective
