As a driver of innovation, TU Wien fosters close collaboration with business and industry and contributes to the prosperity of society.At the Institute of Material Technology, Building Physics and Building Ecology, in the Research Unit of Building Materials, TU Wien is offering a position as Student Employee (all genders) in research/administration for 20 hours/week with immediate effect. This position is limited to expected 4 years, but no longer than the completion of a master’s or diploma degree.Tasks:

  • Support in the execution of laboratory experiments in the building materials laboratory of the research area Materials Technology and Building Materials Science in the field of characterization of building materials with a focus on particles, including particle size distributions and particle shapes
  • The student will work with colleagues to use a device to characterize a range of known granular materials of increasing shape complexity; The aim is to write a best practice document for the device and to illustrate the statistical values provided by the device and to use the raw images for further processing with other image analysis programs such as ImageJ
  • Depending on their interests, students will also be introduced to other physical and mechanical characterization tests, applied to a range of building materials (cement, alkali-activated, clay, etc.)

Your profile:

  • Enrolment in a relevant degree course in the field of civil and environmental engineering, technical physics, materials science or mechanical engineering; No completed master’s or diploma degree in the subject area
