As a driver of innovation, TU Wien fosters close collaboration with business and industry and contributes to the prosperity of society.At the Institute of Architectural Sciences of TU Wien, the Research Unit of Building Physics and Building Ecology is offering a student assistant position in research/administration for 10 hours/week. Expected start: July 2024. This position is limited to 4 years, but no longer than the completion of a master’s or diploma degree.Tasks:
- Contributing to the administration and organization of the English-speaking Master’s program in Building Sciences and Environment, in particular acting as a contact person for students and applicants, as well as in the handling, support and supervision of the admission procedure
- If needed, dedicated involvement in the preparation and implementation of research and development projects in the field of Building Sciences and Environment at the Institut of Architectural Sciences
- Administrative involvement in teaching as well as in the supervision of students, in particular support in communication with students.
- Organizational support in lectures (especially Master of Building Science)
- Assistance with organizational and administrative tasks in the area of teaching
- Participation in the ongoing improvement of the application and assessment/evaluation process of the Master’s degree program
Your profile:
- Enrolment in a relevant study programme (e.g. in architecture, civil engineering or a related field); No completed master’s or diploma degree in the subject area
- Subject-specific knowledge, particularly in the technical core domains of the Institute of Architectural Sciences, i.e. building physics/building performance, structural engineering, digital architecture and spatial planning). Further knowledge in related domains, e.g. structural engineering, databases/data structures is desirable
- Experience in academia is an advantage, but not a necessity
- Motivation to complete tasks responsibly and independently, as well as good self-organization. Teamwork and communication skills, as well as organizational understanding of the Austrian university system and the structure of the TU Wien or study architecture, or motivation to learn these specifics
- Solution-oriented approach to problems
- Quick comprehension and interest in learning new skills, e.g. new software applications.
- Excellent knowledge of English (language of the Master of Building Science and the application process) and German
- Good knowledge of common, general software products (office applications, image processing), as well as subject-specific software packages (CAD/BIM systems, special tools for building physics) is desired
