As a driver of innovation, TU Wien fosters close collaboration with business and industry and contributes to the prosperity of society.At the Institute of Architectural Sciences, in the Research Unit of Building Physics and Building Ecology TU Wien is offering a position as student staff in research/administration for 12 hours/week immediately. This position is expected to be limited to 4 months, but no longer than the completion of a Master’s or Diploma degree.Tasks:

  • Collaboration in the EXCITE project Heat Island Fever
  • Participation in the development of a thermal comfort index
  • Collaboration in the identification of heat-stressed neighborhoods and supported participation in measurements
  • Participation in the evaluation of scenarios using simulation tools
  • Supporting the dissemination of results and other public relations initiatives

Your profile:

  • Enrollment in a relevant field of study (e.g., architecture, civil engineering, building science and environment or related disciplines). No completed master’s or diploma degree in the relevant field
  • Subject-specific knowledge, particularly in the technical core domains of the “Heat Island Fever” project, i.e., building physics/building performance, urban climate, building energy simulation, comfort theories
  • Additional knowledge in related areas, e.g., in construction, databases/data structures, Python, is desirable
  • Motivation for responsible and independent task completion, as well as good self-organization, teamwork, communication skills, and organizational understanding
  • Solution-oriented approach to problem-solving
  • Quick comprehension and interest in learning new skills, e.g., new software applications and methods.
  • Excellent English skills
  • Strong proficiency in common general software products (office applications, image processing), as well as in specialized software packages (Rhinoceros/Grasshopper, EnergyPlus) is essential
