Reporting to the Group Leader, Regional Student Central Hubs and working within Student Services, the Student Central WP Hub Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and inspiring the provision of advice, support and administrative services that improve the student experience and engage our students to facilitate their success.
The successful incumbent will create a sustainable climate of service excellence and have experience including management expertise in administration and extensive experience leading and/ or delivering customer services.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Create a sustainable climate of service excellence, encourage and support others to see situations from the student’s perspective
- Identify the core issues from complex student information and enquiries, draw accurate conclusions and summarise complex information and next steps into simple concise terms that others can understand
- Proactively plan for Trimester cycles and manage resources effectively to ensure your local team, and aligned Faculty stream/s, is resourced appropriately throughout the year – this includes reviewing leave requests with relevant Stream Coordinator/s
- Seek feedback on improvement opportunities for student advice, support and activities from a diverse range of key stakeholders and implement change as needed
- Build new and productive relationships with a diverse range of students and key stakeholders across the University
- Develop and implement practical, accessible solutions to student services related issues and concerns based on stakeholder needs
- Strive for excellence and consult regularly with stakeholders to clarify criteria for success and where and when advice and recommendation is required
- Communicate with confidence using examples and the most appropriate influencing technique for a given situation to increase understanding and support to students
- Act as a coach and manage your direct reports to facilitate growth and development by giving balanced, constructive feedback considering individual capability and team performance, in alignment with Deakin’s code of conduct and core university strategies and policies that promote a safe, sustainable and productive working environment
To be successful, you’ll have:
- A degree with at least 4 years of subsequent relevant experience in a front-line customer service environment; or
- Extensive experience and people management expertise in administrative fields; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Administrative experience working within a large organisation with complex administrative structures, policies and procedures, preferably in a tertiary educational institution
- Extensive experience leading and/or delivering customer services, preferably in a tertiary educational institution
- Knowledge of ESOS Act and National Code of Practice regulatory obligations and student policies and procedures in a university environment is preferred
