Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary | Do you want to make a difference in a teen’s life? Are you friendly, outgoing, energetic and positive? Do you want to work directly with teens? If you answered yes, we are looking for you to join our team at Save- our-Youth Center ! Tutor SOY is currently in search of tutors for our academic program. Duties include but not limited to: working individually with students on subject areas that they need assistance, including math and English; help students complete missing assignments, coordinate with the academic coordinator on which students need help, work with other tutors to help prepare lessons for students, work with students from 7th grade till 12th grade. May need to help with administrative duties, like record keeping of their grades and grade checks; and need to be a positive role model. Teen Program Assistant SOY is currently in search of a teen program assistant. Duties include but not limited to: assigned programming and activities; participate in a multi-disciplinary team; safety at assigned site; build relationships; administrative duties and be a positive role model. Services are provided on site during program hours. May be required to assist with community outreach. Work site is located in a low income area. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud and at times or very loud. Hours Monday and Thursday from 4 to 8pm Tuesday , Wednesday and Friday from 3 to 7pm |

Responsibilities | Tutor – Ability to be a positive role model. – Ability to relate to at-risk youth. – Tutoring 7th to 12th grade students in various subjects. – Greeting incoming students and parents in a professional manner and providing friendly, knowledgeable assistance. – Monitoring academic success of students. – Help Academic Coordinator with other administrative tasks within the academic program. – Ability to connect with others quickly; ability to establish rapport and build relationships. – Ability to set expectations and boundaries. – Knowledge of technology and software such as: social media, Microsoft Office, Canvas, Remind, etc. Teen Program Assistant – Keeping front area clean and neat to give visitors a positive impression of the organization. – Greeting incoming students and parents in a professional manner and providing friendly, knowledgeable assistance. – Monitoring premises, screening visitors, COVID protocols, and updating logs. – Answering telephone inquiries from parents, students, donors, and community partners. – Providing clerical support to program coordinators, including copying, emailing and file management. – Ability to connect with others quickly; ability to establish rapport and build relationships. – Ability to set expectations and boundaries. – Knowledge of technology and software such as: social media, Microsoft Office, Canvas, Remind, etc. |
