Preferred Education/Experience
  • Ideal candidate will have completed the initial 200 level accounting courses.
  • Ideal candidate will be an accounting major that is of junior or senior level.
Hours per Week 15-32 hours per week, Monday through Thursday for the summer between the hours of 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Flexible during exam times.
Job Summary You must be a current UK student to apply for this position. This position is located off-campus with a local Lexington employer and is not affiliated with the university.
Local CPA firm is looking for an accounting student who would like to further their understanding of their future career.
The firm is primarily tax based, which means you would become familiar with high end tax software and learn how to use it.
The student will gain the knowledge needed to prepare financial statements and understand their relationship to the tax return. Student will learn how to prepare individual, and business tax returns. Student will learn how to prepare payroll, and payroll tax returns. . The student will become familiar with cloud-based storage of documents, and cybersecurity. The student will create spreadsheets to summarize information for the tax return.
This job may be used as an internship, or for college credit, if student gets the approval of the applicable college department head.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
  • Must be an accounting major.
  • Must be at least a sophomore.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Must be able to pay attention to detail.
