Please note: This is a temporary
position ending on or before June 30, 2023 with the possibility of extension. This
position will be evaluated over the upcoming academic year to determine on
going need and whether there is need for it on a permanent basis going forward.
Reporting to the Food Procurement
Coordinator, this position is a member of the team responsible for the
day-to-day procurement, organization and delivery of food and related products
for the Culinary Arts & Professional Food Studies Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directed ordering, receipt and
checking of standard food and related products against PO’s - Area requisitions and invoices
- Taking action to ensure that
substitutions for shortages are found acceptance of quality products or return
of unacceptable product and ensuring that proper credit is received - Proper handling and/or storing of
perishable products - Cleaning and maintaining of
receiving area, dock (internal and external) and all assigned food and goods storage
areas - Assisting with the review of
invoices compared to established contracts to ensure accuracy. - Providing and maintaining scheduled
inventory counts as required - Training, organizing workflow,
follow-up with, and guidance to the support team members. - Ensuring all duties performed are in
alignment with all of applicable NAIT audit standards - Other administrative duties as required
Skills & Abilities:
- Good communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Attention to details
- Ability to problem solve and provide solutions
- Knowledge of computers
- May require some evenings/weekends
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to operate a pallet jack and flatbed trolley
Qualifications:
- Completion of grade twelve
- Food Handler’s certificate or equivalent would be
considered an asset - 2-3 years directly related experience, placing orders
with vendors, receiving, storage, and dispatching of materials and supplies
within a large food related service environment. - Experience in a large institutional food service
setting preferred. - Detailed knowledge of all Food Service guidelines,
Food Handling Safety and Sanitation, and HACCP - General knowledge of Food Safety Regulations; WHMIS
standards; NAIT purchasing policies; Occupational Health and Safety guidelines - Equivalencies may be considered
Remuneration: $23.28 – $29.50 hourly plus 12% in lieu of vacation & statutory
holidays. (Classification – Stockkeeper II)
This position is covered by the AUPE
(Alberta Union of Provincial Employees) Collective Agreement.
