The Ohio State University Extension Educator will work collaboratively with county, center, area and state teams of Ohio State University (OSU) Extension professionals and with agency leaders and volunteers to provide guidance and leadership for 4-H Older Teens and Civic Engagement targeted to statewide needs. Utilize appropriate methods, both formal and informal, of clientele assessment to identify educational needs and opportunities of statewide efforts. Design, implement and teach educational programming, based on these needs, to groups and individuals comprised of adults and/or youth. Work with and/or lead committees and volunteers, and establish and maintain partnerships with stakeholders that support the achievement of program goals. May also convene and facilitate coalitions focused on those needs. The Educator may be required to replicate and adhere to existing programs that meet the needs of their clientele. The Educator will develop promotional material, work with and/or lead committees and volunteers, and establish and maintain partnerships within the community that support the achievement of the program goals. The Educator evaluates educational programs and dissemination methods, as well as, utilizes existing evaluation instruments to evaluate the teaching effectiveness, program quality and 4-H Common Measures for impact reporting. Assists with donor discussions and stewardship, as well as seeks extramural funding to support priority programming. The Educator will participate as a member of state and/or multi-state Extension teams to further the overall mission, vision and values of both Ohio State University Extension and 4-H Youth Development.

Detailed Job Description
50% Design, implementation, teach, evaluate, and document outcomes and impacts for older teen programming, focusing on the area of leadership skills development in non-formal educational settings and civic engagement, in collaboration with colleagues responsive to statewide needs. Provide statewide leadership and direction for the 4-H Youth Development statewide teen and civic engagement programming. Provide direction for, replicate, and adhere to research-based programming models on working with teen audiences, best practices for implementation and evaluation of teen and civic engagement programs for 4-H professionals throughout the state. Formulates innovate program ideas and secures funding through grants and teen donor stewardship. Perform state related duties and responsibilities including facilitating the activities of the Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Design Team including assisting with planning, implementing, and evaluating 4-H programming related to 4-H Teen Leadership Curriculum and Statewide 4-H Teen Leadership workshops, programs and activities.

30% Serve as advisor/state 4-H staff representative for the following statewide 4-H program efforts: Ohio 4-H Conference Teen Portion; Ohio 4-H Teen Leadership Council Advisor; National 4-H Conference State Liaison; and support of National Teen Opportunities. Provide support of statewide opportunities, including teen specific camps and opportunities (e.g. Leadership Camp, Sea Camp, Making eXtreme Counselor Workshop, SparkExpo, Capital Challenge, 4-H Day at the Capital, etc.). Identify and set up processes to properly recognize teens for their achievements including Teen Hall of Fame, Teen of the Year, Achievement Awards and other statewide recognition efforts. Maintain a presence through social media and State 4-H website, updating as needed. Coordinate the preparation of documents, resources, and materials to post on the website. Assists with donor discussions and stewardship, as well as seeks extramural funding to support priority programming. Evaluates programming, including but not limited to, the use of existing evaluation instruments for teaching effectiveness, program quality and 4-H Common Measures for impact reporting. Serves on national and/or North Central Region 4-H teams. Perform all other duties as identified and assigned to advance the Ohio 4-H program.

20% Plan, coordinate, market, implement and supervise all aspects of a yearly calendar of teen statewide events, activities, and programs. Create and revise promotional and instructional materials (e.g., fliers, lesson plans, handouts, fact sheets, PowerPoint slides, blog posts). Participate in curriculum development (e.g., project books). Provide information and develop programs to educate teens throughout the state to develop their life skills. The Educator will participate as a member of state and/or multi-state Extension teams. Elevate and incorporate teen voice as a core Positive Youth Development (PYD) practice. Maintain a presence through social media and website.

Required Qualifications
-An earned bachelor’s degree at the time of hire; knowledge of and/or the ability to learn concepts, processes, ideas, and methods of 4-H; experience effectively assessing, replicating and teaching research-based educational programs to diverse audiences; experience in building and maintaining relationships with various group of individuals, including peers, support staff, volunteers, and local committees, in an effort to achieve common programing goals; contemporary and proficient computer skills. 
-Strong written and oral communication skills and experience in working with diverse clientele and organizations. 
-Willing to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends, have effective time management, communication, organization and prioritizing skills. 
-Able to work with minimal supervision. 
-Is a team player. 
-Must provide own transportation with valid driver’s license. 
-At least 2 years prior direct experience in the organizing, implementing, and evaluating of PYD programs. 
-Must agree to Ohio State University requirement regarding vaccinations, including, but not limited to COVID. Screening and training requirements for working with minors, and other University fiscal systems.  

Desired Qualifications
An earned master’s degree at the time of hire in Youth Development or other educationally related area.
