Startup Business Developer and Coach (part time)

Are you an experienced entrepreneur who is passionate about coaching new startups?

DTU Skylab is looking for a person to engage with our many startup projects from DTU as business developer. DTU Skylab supports both student and researcher startups. This position will mainly focus on the student startups. You will be coaching teams developing everything from medical devices to advanced software solutions, and they will be at all stages from recent idea to seed level.

Your main responsibility will be to meet 1:1 with the startup teams to provide hands-on coaching on how they can progress their startup idea and business. You will be working closely with the other startup coaches, project managers and technology experts in Skylab. Besides the direct coaching of our startup teams, you will also be involved in business development workshops, innovation events and the development of our coaching tools and methods.

Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Advice startup projects. Mainly on the commercial aspects like customer engagement, team development, business model and funding opportunities.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of startup related workshops and events
  • Develop and strengthen our coaching tools and methods

You will be a part of the Startup & Partnerships section consisting of 12 project managers and project coordinators.

We expect that you have:

  • Firsthand startup experience, preferably from a technology-based startup
  • Prior startup coaching/mentoring experience
  • A relevant educational background, preferably technical
  • Good communication and people skills

Who are we?
DTU Skylab is the innovation hub of DTU. We are a vibrant community supporting diverse activities such as; curricular courses, company collaborations, and startup support programs. In the 8 years that DTU Skylab has existed, it has become a dynamic innovation hub with 5000 m2 of offices, teaching facilities, workshops and laboratories.

DTU Skylab is both an innovation environment with startups and company collaborations, and an ambitious learning environment where we train skilled engineers with a desire to make a difference in the world.

We are approx. 50 full time employees in 4 sections. We have an informal culture and we can laugh, party and be very serious about what we do. We love our users and love to tell all the great stories about the projects running in DTU Skylab, such as; building rockets, farming snails, developing laboratory robots, digital services, student associations, international summits and airborne wind turbines.It is a challenging job in a very dynamic environment with both business suits and welding masks. You will become a part of a culture and organization in constant rapid development, and you will have a lot of influence on this development.

Terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC) or similar. The position is a part-time 3 year position with estimated 18.5 hours per week. The position is to be filled 1 January 2023.

You will be employed at DTU Skylab and the workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus, Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark. 

You will refer to the Head of the Startups & Partnerships Section.
