Starbucks Evening Supervisor

The Shift Supervisor is in charge in the absence of the manager and supports the Management Team’s efforts to maximize sales and profits and minimize controllable costs by effectively directing and supervising work shift activities. Make sound business decisions quickly to ensure guests receive service beyond their expectations. This position contributes to the success of Starbucks by assisting the store manager in maintaining the Starbucks Standards. This job deploys partners and delegates tasks so that partners can create and maintain the Starbucks Experience for our customers. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.
Shift Schedule: Monday-Thursday 5PM-10PM.

Essential Duties

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Asks as liaison between the store manager and district manager when necessary to enforce Starbucks standards and guidelines
  • Effectively help plan, organize, and implement all daily operational routines and activities; completes all required administrative duties and daily paperwork
  • Delegates shift responsibilities to employees and ensure proper completion of assigned tasks and checklists. Sets high goals for team members and drives results
  • Develops positive relationships with the shift team by understanding and addressing individual motivation, needs, and concerns
  • Executes store operations during scheduled shifts. Organizes opening and closing duties as assigned.
  • Trains barista trainers in proper Starbucks routines to ensure corporate standards are met and exceeded (e.g. Beverage Routine, Customer Support Routine, Frappuccino Routine, Café Order Routine, Warming Routine, etc.)
  • Establishes guidelines of responsibilities to trainers to clarify company expectations
  • Discuss Starbucks Barista Deployment to increase transparency in the way supervisors lead their teams
  • Communicate company culture and history to baristas to help baristas understand the “Third Place” Starbucks goal
  • Assists with developing and maintaining training schedules and certifications
  • Provides new partner training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed. Provides feedback to store manager on partner performance during training
  • Creates a positive learning environment by providing clear, specific, timely, and respectful coaching and feedback to partners on shift to ensure operational excellence and to improve partner performance
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep the store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team
  • Contributes to a positive team environment by recognizing alarms or changes in partner morale and performance and communicating them to the store manager
  • Delivers legendary customer service to all customers by acting with a customer comes first attitude and connecting with the customer. Discovers and responds to customer needs
  • Follows all cash management and cash register policies and ensures the shift team follows proper cash management practices
  • Hosts Coffee Tastings for customers and teammates by guiding them through a sensory journey
  • Smell, slurp, locate, and describe roasts and brews to create an even more meaningful connection with our customers and each other
  • Complete CSU and ASC mandatory trainings as directed
  • Demonstrate integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promote the culture, values, and mission of Starbucks, Auxiliary Services, Campus Dining, and Cal State University Fullerton

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years Starbucks Experience
  • Knowledge of Starbucks Daily Operations, Trainer, and Barista Basics
  • ServSafe Certification
  • History of developing individuals and teams through empowerment and integrity
  • Ability to effectively delegate responsibility
  • Excellent guest service skills, ability to communicate efficiently to help keep all team members informed
  • Dependability, punctuality, and strong work ethic
