Description
Complete mix of field and office work primarily related to wetland & stream delineation and
associated reporting/permit preparation including:
o Stream and wetland field identification and delineation;
o Field routing assessments and route development walks (for linear projects);
o Preparation of various permit applications related to energy industry clients (e.g., coal
& natural gas);
o Assist in preparing detailed field documentation, reports, and mapping exhibits;
o Communicate with clients, third parties, and regulatory agents regarding project
status, schedules and compliance issues. At times, this position may also include:
o Erosion & Sedimentation Inspections;
o Water quality sampling of environmental resources and discharge points;
o Stream flow monitoring for flow volumes, observations, water chemistry, etc.;
o Fish and Wildlife Species Identification, including wildlife species habitat ecology,
related research and monitoring surveys;
o Vegetation community (upland, riparian, and wetlands) and habitat classification/
inventory;

o Biological information synthesis and interpretation, and preparation of technical
reports;
o Agency consultation for regulatory compliance/permitting (e.g., National
Environmental Policy Act [NEPA], Endangered Species Act [ESA], Clean Water Act
[CWA], and state and county equivalents); and
o Ability and willingness to travel as needed.

Qualifications
Position Requirements are as follows:
o Bachelor’s degree in applicable field required (such as Biological Science, Wildlife
Ecology, Environmental Science or Biology, Fisheries and Wildlife Management).
o 0 to 5 years of professional field experience related to wildlife species taxonomy/
ecology/surveys and vegetation/wetland assessment in the Eastern United States.
 Working knowledge and/or skill in the following specialized areas is desirable, but not
required:
o Completion of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation and Management
Training Program is strongly recommended.
o Prior experience in private sector or natural resources/ecological consulting business.
o Biological resource mitigation design and monitoring planning.
o Strong problem-solving skills.
o Demonstrable technical writing/editing ability.
o Good interpersonal communication and oral presentation skills.
o Exceptional attention to detail.
o Excellent planning and organization skills.
o Commitment to quality in both work processes and products.
o Willingness to assume new roles.
