Job Description

Job Description Summary: The Staff Physician, under general direction, works with other medical faculty to deliver health care to students. The position will treat students at the School of Dentistry Health Clinic for minor medical issues. Oversees our Standing Orders Authorization.

Required Education:

  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Licensed Medical Doctor and completion of an accredited residency training program in appropriate specialty.

 

Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of modern medicine.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, human anatomy, community resources in medical treatment, American Medical Association ethics and standards, and pharmacology.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to assess symptoms and make an accurate diagnosis.
  • Ability to prescribe treatment appropriate to patient condition and situation.
  • Ability to apply principles and techniques of modern medicine.

Preferred Experience:

  • Three years of related experience in healthcare. 

  Job Responsibilities

Physician

  • Is responsible for Medical Directives for Students, All Exposure Protocols, Immunizations, Lab work and TB Screening. (TB Screening, Flu vaccine, Hepatitis B vaccine, TDAP vaccine and Rapid HIV testing and counseling to our students.
  • Responsible for Pre-Matriculation Standards, HIPPA (documents and release of information).  
  • Approves Standing orders for required manager to order and dispense PEP medication for initial dosing in after hour exposures.
  • Reviews FB ingestion management. These policies and standards shall remain in effect for all students, patients and employees of the Student Health Clinic until rescinded or until 8/31/23 end of fiscal year.
