Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey has an opportunity for a Part-Time Work Assistant in the Clinical Center as part of the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI) – Clinical Research Occupational Medicine (CROM). Under the direction of the Clinician Supervisor, the Staff Assistant will performs a wide variety of administrative and support services for a Federally contracted Health Program in the Mental Health/Social Work department, and assist in the planning and support of activities for this program. 
Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Responsible for providing administrative, analytical, computing and staff support for the Mental Health and Social /Case Management Team at the World Trade Center Health Program at Rutgers-EOHSI. Executes assignments and tasks requiring data collection, information gathering, analysis, data entry/retrieval, data base maintenance utilizing a variety of software packages.
  • Supports mental health department by assisting with the external provider network credentialing process. Identifies and onboards new mental health providers as needed to meet patient needs.
  • Assists mental health and social work /case management team in coordination of patient care including referrals for WTC related conditions, record requests, letters and mailings. Faxes, scans and performs other administrative functions as required. Documents patient charts in timely fashion. Executes special projects as assigned. Screens calls and provides information in accordance with organizational policy. Receives and appropriately handles incoming correspondence, makes appointments and responds to inquiries.
  • Conducts benefits assessments and assists with providing benefit and disability information to patients. Is involved in activities to improve patient experience. Supports clinic teams as directed by clinician supervisor.
  • Interacts with patients to ensure patients receive the care needed to address both their WTC certified and other conditions. Helps identify resources beneficial for patient wellbeing and health.
  • Develops and implements controls for work assignments under the direction of the Clinician Supervisor.
  • Maintains essential records and assists in the maintenance of all activity files.
  • Prepares and/or compiles data for special reports and analyses, monthly reports, program evaluations, and other related reports within prescribed guidelines.

Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts, Public Health, the Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite; Strong computer literacy and interpersonal skills required.
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the above requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Social Work background/BSW preferred.
Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25lbs.
