Sr. Building Maintenance Worker – Landscape Const. – 125941

Under supervision, the Sr. Building Maintenance Worker – Landscape Construction will perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in grounds landscape and hardscape maintenance, (including streets, walkways and fences). Responsibilities include: alterations, repair and renovation projects. Read and interpret blueprints, landscape and planting plans, irrigation plans and specifications. Interpret and perform projects as requested through work orders and service requests.

  • Proven ability to pour and mold concrete in the construction of side-walks, steps, streets, vaults, walls, curbs, etc. Ability to cut, remove and repair broken concrete.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and apply blue prints, building codes, specifications, rules and regulations.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate pneumatic or electric jackhammers, vibrators, and power saws and other landscape equipment.

  • Ability to calculate slopes and grades in the construction of sidewalks and drain lines.

  • Knowledge of and ability to make minor irrigation repairs and alterations.

  • Knowledge and ability to determine and calculate materials necessary for a job.

  • Substantial experience working in landscape and hardscape construction, repair and maintenance.

  • Ability to plan, follow through and effectively carry out assignments.

  • Knowledge and understanding of related safety procedures and practices related to power equipment and tools.

  • Ability to work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities.

  • Proven ability to interact effectively, courteously and professionally with all members of the university community. Ability to work effectively in a team-based, service oriented environment.

  • Solid problem-solving skills and sound judgment.

  • Ability to coordinate work with other grounds personnel.

  • Knowledge and ability to use related hand and power tools.

  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the job.

  • Ability to build and maintain customer relationships through a professional approach in handling customer service needs and resolving problems efficiently.

  • Basic computer skills to check email, enter time and material data and to complete electronic records.

    Annual Full Pay Range: $48,922 – $63,266 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

    Hourly Equivalent: $23.43 – $30.30
