Your Responsibilities

What you’ll do

The successful post holder will be a key member of the cross sectional imaging team, with a high level of competence in the specialist modalities of MRI and CT scanning, as well the opportunity to develop into Neuro Interventional Angiography. We have a well developed, supportive induction process. You must be able to demonstrate good communication skills, professionalism, and a flexible approach to working to support the CT & MRI Imaging Leads in delivering an efficient and effective service. As a major trauma centre, with a large inpatient population, we provide a 24/7 service and require flexibility to cover all shifts.

You will be working on the Southampton General site and rotation off site in the Southampton City area providing a CT imaging service for the targeted lung health check screening and Community Diagnostic Hub.

The Department currently has the following equipment installed: – 

  • 3 Siemens Aera 1.5T MRI scanners

  • 2 Siemens Skyra 3T MRI scanners

  • 4 Siemens Definition Edge Plus dual energy CT scanners

  • 1 Siemens Drive Dual Source CT scanner

  • GE Revolution GSI CT

  • Siemens Artis Zee Bi-plane Neuro-Interventional Angiography suite

  • Siemens Artis Zee Single plane Neuro-Interventional Angiography Suite

What we’re looking for

A radiographer with experience of CT and / or MR scanning or with the skills ready to develop into this specialist area.  Someone with enthusiasm to learn and thrive in a busy hospital undertaking complex imaging. The willingness to learn and be adaptable.

To aid this, a supportive team of Superintendent Radiographers and Radiologists lead our imaging services with an open and inclusive approach to our work. Our radiography team are actively encouraged to personally develop along their career path with strong future opportunities available in this continually developing organisation. We are continually developing our specialist imaging services within our three modalities and post graduate training and skills development is actively encouraged.
