Job Description SummaryThe search will remain open until the position has been filled.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Work with the Director of GEMS Net, GEMS Net staff, partner with public school educators and administrators, outside collaborators and various URI departments to support GEMS-Net’s mission of supporting the implementation of high-quality science education in RI public schools.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collaborate and communicate regularly and effectively with various URI departments to ensure efficient and timely processing and management of tasks related to essential project activities, including but not limited to purchasing, human resources, participant paperwork and stipends, bid procurement, contracts, travel, program and events, and room scheduling.

Collaborate and communicate regularly and effectively with project partners across education systems, including public school superintendents, administrators, district staff, classroom educators, and external partner organizations and vendors regarding the development, implementation, and scheduling of project activities.

Collaborate with project staff to collect, enter, and maintain detailed records and data related to all project activities, including program and project evaluations.

Collaborate with project staff to assist in collecting, organizing, updating, and maintaining extensive individual records for teacher participation in project activities.

Assist in recruiting, hiring, and supervising student workers.

Monitor daily office routines and maintain and order supplies as needed.

Coordinate and organize project staff in the maintenance, procurement, and delivery of needed classroom science education materials.

Collaborate with project staff and other partners to plan and organize program events and special projects, including set up and breakdown, event registration, and other relevant tasks.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in preparing and maintaining program budgets.

Assist in preparing grant proposals.

Perform other project tasks as requested.

LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:

Personal computers, printers, word processing, database management, and Google Workspace tools, including Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, and Classroom.

Required QualificationsREQUIRED:

1. Bachelor’s degree in education, communications, business, or related field.

2. Minimum two years’ experience working in the educational field.

3. Demonstrated ability to work with school administrators, teachers, and/or staff.

4. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively.

5. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

6. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

7. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.

8. Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

9. Demonstrated attention to detail, analytical, and organizational skills.

10. Demonstrated customer service skills.

Preferred QualificationsPREFERRED:

1. Master’s degree in education, communications, business, or related field.

2. Demonstrated experience working in or with public, private, charter, or other school settings.

3. Demonstrated understanding and enacting of the mission of GEMS-Net.
