The Department of Otolaryngology-HNS in the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is searching for an Academic Comprehensive Otolaryngology-HNS faculty Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner position at the rank of specialist to join a growing and dynamic academic program.  The faculty member will function as part of a comprehensive Pediatric Otolaryngology position within the Otolaryngology Head & Neck surgery Department with opportunities to impact residents and medical students’ education. The residency program is fully accredited for 10 residents.  The practice is part of the UT Health Physicians Faculty Practice Plan.   Physician Assistant/Nurse practitioner, Pediatric Otolaryngology, provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive healthcare services under the supervision of a physician.  Must have the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:

  • Provide Service to Otolaryngology patients (pediatrics) at our hospital location.
  • Obtain patient history and perform assessments.
  • Order, perform and interpret diagnostic procedures.
  • Provide and document direct treatment and management of health conditions.
  • Provide counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventive health, treatment options.
  • Work collaboratively with Pediatric Otolaryngologist in the care and management of their patients.
  • Executes diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as physicians may assign.
  • Complete timely documentation of patient encounters and billing paperwork.
  • Participate in the development and growth of the practice.

Qualifications:

  • Must have successfully completed an approved Physician Assistant Program /Nurse Practitioner Program and be in possession of a current certificate of accreditation required by date of hire. 
  • Must hold license as a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner in the state of Texas.  BLS Providers credentialed for the American Heart Association
