Job Description Summary

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the guidance of the Honors Director, provide support in the following areas: communications, public relations, social media, website management, content creation, and database management, technology, events, community building, student-group management, and other related support to the Honors Program, which also includes the Office of National Fellowships. Manage multiple projects of a complex nature and communicate effectively with students, faculty, administrators, and other members of the University community.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In the area of Communications, Public Relations, and Social Media, work with the staff and faculty Directors of the Honors Program to provide communications and public relations support for Honors-program activities. Create, support, and maintain a robust digital and social media presence for the Honors Program, the Honors Colloquium, and the Office of National Fellowships. Build and maintain an Honors-related alumni network. In support of Social Media, be available for Honors events that are sometimes held on weeknights (the Colloquium) or weekends (University-wide recruitment events like Welcome Days).

In the area of Website Management, be responsible for the management of the Honors Program website as well as related websites, such as those for the Office of National Fellowships, and the Honors Colloquium. Update and provide new content for websites.

In the area of Content Creation, be responsible for the creation of high-quality print and online materials including but not limited to: advertisements, online posters, newsletters, and annual reports. Produce and disseminate print and online materials. Be available to assist with graphic design as it relates to Honors projects.

In the area of Data and Database Management, maintain all databases for the Honors program, including current Honors student and Colloquium databases, as well as databases for the Office of National Fellowships. Provide information for requested queries from databases. Contribute to the research and compilation of information and data for use in reports and presentations such as the Annual Report.

In the area of Technology, provide technological support to Honors faculty, staff and students and serve as the first point of contact for Lippitt Hall technology questions.

In the area of Events, contribute to the planning, set-up, and execution of Honors events.

In the area of Community Building and Student Groups, maintain the Honors Lounge. In conjunction with the Honors advisor, serve as an administrative contact and co-organizer for student groups, including the Honors Student Ambassadors and Honors Advisory Council.

In the area of Public Facing Support, answer phones, greet visitors, and disseminate information to a diverse constituency while exhibiting a high degree of tact and sensitivity. Interact directly with the public, students, faculty, staff, and officials (both within and outside the University) on behalf of the Honors Program Director and staff.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other confidential administrative services for all staff of the Honors Program.

Required QualificationsREQUIRED:

1. Bachelor’s degree.

2. Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.

3. Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining social media campaigns.

4. Demonstrated experience in content creation (both online and hard copy).

5. Demonstrated experience in desktop publishing and online list management.

6. Demonstrated experience in database management and spreadsheet software.

7. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Excel, PowerPoint, and Word) and Google Workspace (Documents, Files, Sheets, Slides, etc.)

8. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

9. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

10. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
