At the heart of everything we do, they inspire us to grow, raise the bar for our customers and fuel a pet-first business.Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join a team in our Pricing and Promotions domain, within the Engineering & Operation organization, to support the Team and enable people growth.As an Engineering Manager, reporting to Domain Engineering Manager, you are committed to driving efficient product delivery on time & within budget, and guiding the professional growth of your team members, while actively contributing to shaping a robust technical direction for our products. Your goal is to foster excellence, support career development, ensure processes are followed and contribute to the overall success of our organization.You are working closely with the Product Owner and Domain Architect, and you own vital aspects of your team’s member success.In close collaboration with other teams, this team defines, implements, deploys, and operates software products to deliver market intelligence information to internal stakeholders, so that we can use this to provide optimally-priced products in our shops to more than 9 million customers!As our Software Engineering Manager, you embrace the following responsibilities:Product Vision and Strategy: Contributing to defining the product vision and strategy, considering people, process, product, and capacity aspects.Product Delivery: Being accountable for the deliverables of the product teams, adhering to timelines and commitments made, ensuring scalability and resilience of existing applications and contributing to the overall company goals and strategy. You take ownership of ensuring the successful delivery of our Product Team’s commitments, by setting clear goals and expectations.Capacity Planning: Ensuring the team has the necessary resources and skills by evaluating workload and identifying potential bottlenecks for successful project delivery. You actively participate in the recruitment and retention process, ensuring a healthy composition of the Product Team.Technical excellence: Being an enabler, your responsibility is to empower the team, unlocking their potential and facilitating their progress towards set goals, while proactively identifying and removing any technical impediments or obstacles that hinder their productivity. You have a strong commitment to maintaining a high standard of technical excellence by emphasizing best practices and industry trends.People Growth: Taking responsibility for the growth of the team members to meet business & tech expectations by managing performance and providing coaching on the job as well for individual development. Fostering excellence and supporting career development is one of your crucial goals.Process Management: Creating a productive, agile environment, aligning with other Teams, and ensuring company policies and product/tech processes are well-coordinated. Emphasizing the value of continuous improvement by promoting architectural best practices and nurturing individual growth. This means our working language is English.QualificationsStrong software engineering & design fundamentals with extensive former hands-on design & development experience (8+ years within software development practices out of which at least 3+ years as a technical and/or team leader)Strong communication, people management and team leadership skillsAn extensive and recent contribution to process, Agile and Lean fundamentalsExperience in e-commerce businessExtensive experience and exposure to software tooling and practices (wiki and ticketing – ideally Atlassian, ci/cd, release cycle, automation, monitoring, support, and operation)Knowledge of Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and PostgreSQLPractical experience in backend developmentKnowledge and experience on JVM-based languages is a bonusAdditional InformationFor this position, an annual gross salary from 70,000 – 80,000 EURO is envisaged for employment in Austria (38.5 hours/week); In addition, we may offer an overpayment in line with the market depending on qualifications and experience.With more than 1,000 passionate professionals located across 10 European offices, we believe our success comes from working together and leveraging our international strengths.
