Social Media Strategy Manager

East Stroudsburg University is hiring a Social Media Strategy
Manager!
 Located in the
beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City
and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social
activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks,
scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other
opportunities for recreational fun.

As the Social Media Strategy Manager, you will need to think
creatively and be comfortable acting as a subject matter expert within a team of marketers and
communications professionals, and participating in the distribution of all
crisis communications on social media with the guidance of senior leadership.
You will be an active member of the University Marketing and Communication team
and will work closely with the Director to execute and optimize a
comprehensive social media plan that creates and delivers dynamic content and
enhances audience engagement across multiple social platforms. You will
thrive in this role if you like combining your experience developing content
across many different social platforms and your excellent written and verbal
communication skills while serving as a leader of social content and strategy
for the entire university community. With a focus on data-driven
decision-making, you work to analyze, evaluate, and refine strategies based on
results. To be successful in this role, you must be analytical, collaborative and
a problem-solver.
Your normal hours will be Monday to Friday 8 am – 4:30 pm,
but you may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the
needs of the business to be a true Social Media Strategy Manager.  When
our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed – all
while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.
What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)

  • Develop
    all social media plans for ESU by leading the day-to-day administration,
    content, and management of ESU’s official social media channels including,
    but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat, and
    TikTok.
  • Monitor
    all data and engagement across channels to quantify results, report on
    trends and anticipate changes to optimize and refine strategies.
  • Create
    and share original, audience-centric posts with a focus on audience
    engagement. Plan a content calendar with consideration for organic, paid
    and user-generated content.
  • Attend
    content meetings to stay abreast of stories being developed and all
    university news. Collaborate with communications and marketing team
    leaders and agency-of-record to seamlessly integrate targeted marketing
    campaigns into appropriate paid content for prospective students.
  • Utilize
    all available social listening tools to monitor and, if appropriate,
    respond to conversations and posts involving the university or any
    university community members across channels. Answer any private messages
    received promptly and inform communications team of developing online
    conversations to evaluate audience sentiment and address specific
    individual issues or concerns proactively.
  • Serve
    as key member of ESU’s crisis communications team, collaborating with
    communications and other internal departments as needed to create
    accurate, thoughtful, and official social responses. Establish digital
    tools necessary to quickly respond to and support ongoing communication
    and updates during crises.
  • Recruit,
    train, and supervise social media interns/ambassadors, providing
    meaningful direction and guidance to support the university’s social media
    efforts and provide an in-depth learning experience for the students.
  • Develop
    and update social media best practices guidelines for ESU to be followed
    across all divisions and departments. Advise on social account creation,
    web content that drives to social channels, and any other ESU initiatives
    that include a social component including ensuring brand and message
    consistency.
  • Perform
    related work as required.

What We’re Looking For (AKA Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three years of professional work experience in a related field.
  • Mastery of social media administration tools including, but not limited to, Facebook Business Manager, Google Analytics, Hootsuite and/or Salesforce Social Studio, and Trello or a similar project management platform.
  • Demonstrated experience developing content across many different social platforms.
  • Knowledge of current social media best practices and emerging social platforms.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data and trends.
  • Clear understanding of audiences, audience segmentation and marketing/communications principles.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially with a clear and approachable tone.
  • Ability to think creatively and problem solve independently.
  • Proven leadership of social strategy.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented.
  • Experience in higher education or with a larger organization that has multiple social accounts preferred.
  • Experience working in crisis communications preferred. 
  • Specialized Software: Facebook Business Manager, Hootsuite/Salesforce Social Studio, Trello or similar platform, Google Analytics, Adobe Creative Cloud
